* 'look' (in Dutch: 'kijk') refers to the subject of the sentence 'I' using his eyes to look out on the world, not to his appearance.
** 'op de klippen lopen' is a Dutch saying that is hard to translate because I don't think there is a matching English saying. It means something like 'to come to an end', you usually say it about a relationship. It literally means (a ship) stranding on cliffs and not being able to get away. But the wordplay gets kind of lost in English.
