(Luc Plamondon / Francois Cousineau)
[The Shadow Piano]
(She was playing piano every night at seven
Waltzes from Chopin, military marches
Musics that once made her heart beat
Her repertoire was from the first war (WWI))
(We never saw her, but in the morning
When she was going out to get he paper and some bread
She lived in the apartment upstairs from mine
But she never said hello to her neighbours)
(In winter she was like a ghost in the house
But when was coming back the time of the beautiful season
She opened her windows like we open our heart
To play piano at night, at seven)
(But one summer night, when it was so warm
She stopped playing in the middle of a tango
She wasn't victim of a bad mood
She was died of a heart attack)
(And since she left no will
One day they sold her belongings by aunction
I don't know why me who didn't play much
I bought for myself the old instrument)
(I play of it not badly already, I already know by heart
At least twenty-five songs from Lennon-Mc Cartney
And when I'll be old, alone and abandonned
I'll play them for myself every night at seven)
(I'll play them for myself every night at seven)
