Mom, I'm writing you a poem —
Maybe the last one, surely the first.
It's a deep, dark night.
I'm sitting in bed; she's sleeping beside me,

Breathing so softly.
I think I hear music —
No... it's just some noise in my head.
I'm sitting here, drowning — drowning in tears,
Because I'm sad, because I'm alone.
Fear grips my throat.

Loneliness — such a dreadful terror,
Wrapping around me, piercing right through me.
You know, Mom — I thought to myself:
There is no God. No God at all.

The only peaceful place is home,
Where you are — and I am not.
And I don't think I'll ever come back,
No, I probably won't.
Mom, I love you. I love you so.

I used to think you hurt me,
But it was me who hurt you.
It's a pity I realized it so late.
So late I understood — I understood it.

Loneliness — such a dreadful terror,
