(David Bowie zapowiedział, że wyda album z okazji swoich 69. urodzin. Płyta ujrzy światło dzienne 8 stycznia 2016 roku. Album zatytułowany "Blackstar" będzie 25. krążkiem w dorobku brytyjskiego muzyka. Pierwszy singel promujący to wydawnictwo, którym będzie tytułowa piosenka, ma zadebiutować 20 listopada i zawierać: "śpiewy gregoriańskie, sekcję soulową, różne elektroniczne rytmy oraz charakterystyczny wokal Bowiego".)
