Tekst piosenki
(Michelle Lewis)
Drawn by your colors I could scale the garden wall
Past the "Don't Enter" signs and trying not to fall (and break my neck)
I should pick roses but I can't do as I am told
And you look so pretty in the light I want a bunch to hold
Watch each step I take so carefully
'Cause one false move and you're screamin'
Don't tread on me, don't tread on me, no
Mr. Marigold, I want your hand to hold
But the farmer's daughter's chasing me away
Laying my head down in a patch of orange and green
The smell in the air is strong, still I can't make myself leave
You're my temptation 'cause those petals look so sweet
I thought you were gentle but you're not
And you're poisonous to eat
Caught green-handed trying to sneak you out
With yellow on my chin and a stem in my mouth
Then I whispered too loudly
Mr. Marigold, I want your hand to hold
But the farmer's daughter's chasing me away
and I want my soul again, I want my heart to mend
But Mr. Marigold won't let me stay
woohoowoohoo...
I Watch each step I take so carefully, carefully
'Cause one false move and you're screamin'
Don't tread on me, don't tread on me, no
Mr. Marigold I want your hand to hold
But the farmer's daughter's chasing me away
I want my soul again, I want my heart to mend
But Mr. Marigold, Mr. Marigold
Oh Mr. Marigold, I want your hand to hold
But the farmer's daughter's chasing me away
I want my soul again I want my heart to mend
But Mr. Marigold, Mr. Marigold...
